What Are Type C Stub End Fittings?
Type C stub end fittings are butt weld stub ends made by flaring the end of a pipe outward to form the lap. One end is bevelled and welded to the pipe, and the other end is flared over, which leaves a rounded edge at the inside diameter of the lap. If the project needs it, the rounded edge can be made close to square.
Type C differs from Type A and Type B in three ways. The lap thickness is about 75% of the pipe wall, where Type A and Type B laps are as thick as the pipe wall or thicker. The lap face is smooth and not machined, where Type A and Type B laps carry a serrated face. And the body is short, with a short fillet radius on the outside, so the stub end can host almost any backing flange, whether a lap joint flange or a slip-on flange.
