What Are Long Radius Elbow Fittings?
Long radius elbow fittings are pipe fittings that change the direction of flow gradually, with a centre-line radius equal to 1.5 times the nominal pipe size. They are commonly available in 45° and 90° angles, helping pipelines turn while reducing sudden changes in flow direction.
These fittings are widely used in oil and gas pipelines, chemical plants, power stations and water systems where smooth flow is important. Their curved design can help reduce pressure loss and turbulence compared with sharper turns in suitable piping systems. Available in different sizes, wall thicknesses and materials, long radius elbows can meet a wide range of industrial piping requirements.
Long Radius Elbow Fittings
High-quality long radius elbow fittings designed for smooth fluid flow and reduced pressure loss in industrial piping systems, serving oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical, power generation, marine and engineering industries, available in various materials, sizes, wall thicknesses and grades.
Long Radius Elbow Fittings Types We Supply
As a long radius elbow fittings manufacturer, we offer different elbow designs for industrial piping systems, with options for flow direction, material grade and project requirements.
- Long Radius 90° Elbow: Used for right-angle turns in process lines where a gradual change in direction helps manage pressure loss.
- Long Radius 45° Elbow: Suitable for gentle turns and pipe offsets where a sharp change in direction is not required.
- Long Radius 180° Return Bend: Reverses the flow direction for applications such as heat exchangers, heater coils and tank piping.
- Long Radius Reducing Elbow: Changes the pipe direction and connection size in a single fitting.
- Seamless Long Radius Elbow: Suitable for demanding piping applications, depending on the material, pressure and temperature requirements.
- Welded Long Radius Elbow: Available for larger sizes, with additional weld inspection based on project specifications.
- Stainless Steel Long Radius Elbow (WP-S, WP-W, WP-WX): Available in ASTM A403 manufacturing categories for applications requiring corrosion resistance.
- Custom Angle Long Radius Elbow: Produced to specified angles, such as 22.5°, 30° and 60°, where supported by the design and manufacturing requirements.
We supply these types in different sizes, schedules and material grades to match piping drawings and applicable industry standards.
Why Choose Long Radius Elbow Fittings?
Long radius elbow fittings provide a gradual change in pipe direction, helping reduce turbulence and pressure loss in many piping systems. Their wider curve can support efficient fluid flow, reduce the load on pumps and help control operating costs over time. This makes them a practical choice for pipelines that carry water, oil, gas, steam and other industrial fluids.
The wider bend also helps distribute flow-related wear over a larger area compared with a tighter turn. This can be useful in systems that handle fast-moving fluids or abrasive materials. Long radius elbows are commonly used in oil and gas plants, chemical processing facilities, power stations and other industrial applications where space allows a gradual bend.
Standard dimensions also make planning and installation easier. By specifying the angle, pipe size, schedule, material grade and applicable standard, project teams can select fittings that match their piping layout and prepare for installation with greater accuracy.

Long Radius Elbow Fittings Price
We quote long radius elbow fittings order by order, because steel and nickel prices shift often. The grade moves the price most: a 316L or duplex elbow costs more than a WPB carbon steel one, since nickel and molybdenum add to the metal cost. Size and wall come next, because a large, thick-walled elbow uses far more steel than a small, thin one.
Angle, quantity and testing also change the number. A 180° return uses more material than a 45° elbow, a larger lot lowers the cost per piece, and radiography, impact tests or 3.2 inspection add cost. Send us your list with angle, size, schedule, grade and quantity, and we will send you a clear quote.
| Material | Quote Basis | What Moves the Price |
|---|---|---|
| Carbon steel (WPB, WPL6) | Per piece or per kg | Steel rate and wall thickness |
| Stainless steel (304, 316L, 321) | Per piece or per kg | Nickel and molybdenum rates |
| Duplex and super duplex | Per piece or per kg | Nickel, chrome and nitrogen content |
| Alloy steel (WP11, WP22, WP91) | Per piece or per kg | Chrome and moly content |

Long Radius Elbow Fittings Standards and Certifications
We manufacture long radius elbow fittings to meet industry standards and project specifications. Our products follow ASME B16.9 for dimensions, ASME B16.25 for butt weld end preparation and applicable ASTM material standards, including A234 for carbon and alloy steel, A403 for stainless steel, A420 for low-temperature steel, A815 for duplex steel and B366 for nickel alloys. MSS SP-43 and MSS SP-75 apply to relevant product types.
As a long radius elbow fittings supplier in India, we support quality and traceability through ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 certifications. Depending on the order, we provide EN 10204 3.1 material test certificates, chemical and mechanical test reports, dimensional inspection reports and PMI testing. EN 10204 3.2 certification and third-party inspections can also be arranged when specified by the project.
Long Radius Elbow Fittings Manufacturing Process
We pick the forming route by size and grade. For most sizes, we heat a seamless pipe blank and push it over a mandrel, which stretches the metal into the 1.5D curve. For large sizes, we press plate into halves, weld the seam, and radiograph it.
Forming thins the outer curve, so we start with extra wall and then measure the finished elbow against the standard minimum. We heat treat each lot after that: carbon steel gets normalised to refine its grain, and stainless steel and duplex get solution annealed to restore corrosion resistance.
Next, we trim the ends to length and cut the bevel to ASME B16.25. Stainless elbows go through pickling and passivation to remove scale, and we finish by stamping the size, grade, schedule and heat number on each piece before oiling, varnishing, sand blasting or polishing it.
Long Radius Elbow Fittings Quality Testing
A Long Radius Elbow Fittings Supplier in India has to prove the grade and the wall at the curve, so we test each lot in a fixed order. We start with Positive Material Identification, scanning every elbow with an XRF gun so a wrong grade never reaches the packing line. We then take samples from each heat for chemistry, tensile strength, yield and hardness tests, and compare the results with the standard.
Our inspectors measure the angle, centre-to-end dimension, bevel and wall thickness at the outer curve against ASME B16.9. For welded and large elbows, we run radiography, ultrasonic, dye penetrant or magnetic particle checks, and we hydrotest on request. Stainless steel elbows can go through the ASTM A262 intergranular corrosion test, and low temperature grades go through impact tests at your design temperature. A final visual check covers surface, weld ends and markings on every piece.
Long Radius Elbow Fittings Applications
- Oil and Gas Pipelines: Pipeline crews fit long radius elbow fittings at direction changes to keep pressure drop low across long runs.
- Refineries and Petrochemical: Alloy steel elbows carry hot hydrocarbons around furnaces, columns and reactors.
- Power Plants: WP22 and WP91 elbows take heat and pressure in steam and boiler feed lines.
- Pump Stations: The smooth 1.5D curve protects pumps by cutting turbulence on suction and discharge lines.
- Slurry and Abrasive Lines: The long sweep spreads wear along the curve, so mining and cement plants get longer elbow life.
- Chemical Processing: Stainless steel 316L and duplex elbows handle acids, alkalis and solvents.
- Water Treatment and Desalination: Super duplex and 316L elbows stand up to brine and seawater.
- HVAC and Chilled Water Mains: Contractors buy from a trusted Long Radius Elbow Fittings Supplier in India like us for large chilled water and fire water mains.
