We also focus on material traceability, applicable industry standards, and inspection documentation to help maintain product quality throughout the supply process.
What Are Equal Tee Fittings?
Equal tee fittings are T-shaped pipe fittings with three openings of the same nominal size. Two openings face each other along a straight line, which we call the run, and the third opening rises at 90° from the middle of the run, which we call the branch or outlet.
The word “equal” tells you the branch matches the run. A 6″ equal tee has a 6″ run and a 6″ branch, while a reducing tee has a smaller branch, for example 6″ × 4″. Equal tee fittings split one flow into two equal streams, or merge two streams into one, and fitters weld, thread or socket weld them into the line depending on the type. Butt weld equal tees follow ASME B16.9, and forged equal tees follow ASME B16.11. Both take the same schedule as the pipe they join, so the tee carries the same pressure rating as the pipe.
Equal Tee Fittings
High-quality equal tee fittings, available in sizes ½″–48″ and grades WPB, WPL6, WP304/304L and WP316/316L, with TUV and ISO certified quality for demanding oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical, power generation, marine and engineering applications.
Equal Tee Fittings Types We Supply
As an experienced equal tee fittings manufacturer, we supply different designs for piping systems that require reliable branch connections, specific joining methods, and suitable material grades. Each type serves a different purpose depending on the installation and operating conditions.
- Butt Weld Equal Tee: Connects three pipes of the same nominal diameter through welded ends, making it suitable for permanent process piping and pipeline systems.
- Seamless Equal Tee: Manufactured from seamless pipe, this option is used when the application calls for a fitting without a longitudinal weld seam in the starting material.
- Welded Equal Tee: Produced using welded construction to meet specific size and manufacturing requirements, with additional weld inspection available when specified.
- Forged Socket Weld Equal Tee: Designed for small-bore piping, with socket ends that accommodate pipes for fillet welding under applicable ASME B16.11 requirements.
- Forged Threaded Equal Tee: Features threaded ends for joining compatible pipes without welding, commonly used in small-bore piping arrangements.
- Stainless Steel Equal Tee: Available in ASTM A403 grades such as WP304, WP304L, WP316, and WP316L for applications requiring corrosion resistance.
- Alloy Steel Equal Tee: Grades such as WP11, WP22, and WP91 suit selected high-temperature applications in boilers and power plants.
- Low-Temperature Equal Tee: Options such as WPL6 and LF2 are used in piping systems designed for low-temperature service.
- Duplex and Super Duplex Equal Tee: Selected for applications that require high strength and corrosion resistance, including certain offshore and seawater systems.
- Barred Equal Tee: Incorporates bars across the branch opening to help pipeline inspection pigs pass along the main run without entering the branch.
Available configurations, sizes, and material grades depend on the applicable standards and project specifications.
Why Choose Equal Tee Fittings?
Equal tee fittings give you a balanced split in a single fitting. When a header must feed two lines of the same size, such as two pumps, two heat exchangers or two risers, an equal tee divides the flow evenly and keeps both branches at the full pipe size. A reducing tee or an olet cannot do that, because both of them shrink the branch.
They also save field work. Without a tee, a crew must cut a hole in the pipe, fit a nozzle and weld a reinforcing pad around it. A factory-made equal tee replaces all of that with a fitting that has the metal already built into the branch, so the joint arrives checked and ready for welding. Fewer site welds mean faster fit-up, fewer inspection points and fewer places for a leak to start.
Strength at the branch matters most. The hole in the run removes metal and concentrates stress at the crotch of the tee, which is the weakest point of any header. A seamless equal tee is formed from a single pipe, and the forming process pushes extra metal into the branch, so the fitting keeps its rated strength without a separate pad.
Standard dimensions complete the picture. ASME B16.9 fixes the centre-to-end length on the run and on the branch, so fabricators can cut and bevel spools before the tee arrives. Designers can then place valves, supports and instruments with confidence, and the finished line matches the drawing.

Equal Tee Fittings Price
We quote every equal tee order on its own, because steel and nickel prices change often and a fixed price list would go stale within weeks. Material grade moves the price the most. A 316L or duplex equal tee costs more than a WPB carbon steel one, since nickel, chrome and molybdenum add to the metal cost, and alloy steel tees in WP22 and WP91 sit between the two.
Size and wall come next. A large equal tee uses far more steel than a small one, and a thick wall such as Sch 80 or Sch 160 adds weight and forming effort. The route matters too: a seamless tee made from heavy pipe costs differently from a welded tee made from plate, and a forged tee in a 6000# class costs differently from one in a 2000# class.
Quantity and testing shape the final number. A larger lot lowers the cost per piece because setup spreads over more tees, while radiography, impact tests, hardness reports and 3.2 third-party inspection each add cost. Send us your list with size, schedule, grade, type and quantity, and we will send a clear quote.
| Material | Quote Basis | What Moves the Price |
|---|---|---|
| Carbon steel (WPB, WPL6) | Per piece or per kg | Steel rate and wall thickness |
| Stainless steel (304, 316L, 321) | Per piece or per kg | Nickel and molybdenum rates |
| Duplex and super duplex | Per piece or per kg | Nickel, chrome and nitrogen content |
| Alloy steel (WP11, WP22, WP91) | Per piece or per kg | Chrome and moly content |
| Forged steel (A105, A182, LF2) | Per piece | Pressure class and billet weight |
Equal Tee Fittings Features
Equal tee fittings simplify pipeline branching by providing three openings of the same nominal size. Their design helps fabricators build consistent piping layouts while meeting the required dimensions, materials, and connection specifications.
- Same-Size Openings: The run and branch have matching nominal diameters, allowing the pipeline to divide or combine flow without changing the branch size.
- Designed for Branch Stresses: Properly manufactured tees provide the required wall thickness around the branch junction to meet the applicable pressure and design requirements.
- Simplified Installation: A ready-made tee creates a branch connection without requiring fabricators to cut an opening into the main pipe and build a separate reinforced branch.
- Standardized Dimensions: Applicable standards, including ASME B16.9 for butt weld tees and ASME B16.11 for forged fittings, define dimensions and requirements for the relevant product types.
- Broad Size and Schedule Selection: Butt weld equal tees are available in sizes from 1/2" to 24" NB, with wall thicknesses from Schedule 5S to XXS, subject to material and specification.
- Multiple Connection Styles: Butt weld, socket weld, and threaded designs accommodate different pipe sizes and installation methods.
- Material Options for Different Services: Available materials include carbon steel, low-temperature carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, duplex steel, and nickel alloys.
- Weld-End Preparation: Butt weld ends can be bevelled according to ASME B16.25 requirements for the specified connection.
- Identification and Traceability: Markings and material certificates can record the fitting size, grade, schedule, and heat number to support material verification.
