What Are Elbows Fittings?

Elbows fittings are curved pipe fittings that turn a pipeline through an angle, most often 45°, 90° or 180°. Fitters weld, thread or bolt them between two pipes, so the flow changes direction without anyone bending the pipe itself. The radius of the curve sets how the elbow behaves. A long radius elbow curves at 1.5 times the pipe size, so it turns the flow gently and keeps pressure drop low. A short radius elbow curves at 1 times the pipe size, so it fits into tight spaces.

Elbow Fittings Types We Supply

As an experienced elbow fittings manufacturer, we offer different elbow types to suit industrial piping layouts, pressure requirements and space limitations. Our range includes long radius and short radius elbows, return bends, pipe bends, reducing elbows and forged elbows for various applications.

  • Long Radius 90° Elbow: Features a radius of 1.5 × NPS and supports smooth flow with lower pressure loss.
  • Short Radius 90° Elbow: Has a radius of 1 × NPS and fits tight spaces around pumps, skids and pipe racks.
  • Long Radius 45° Elbow: Changes flow direction gradually for piping offsets.
  • Long Radius 180° Return Bend: Reverses flow in heat exchangers and coil piping.
  • Short Radius 180° Return Bend: Suits compact piping layouts with limited space.
  • 3D and 5D Pipe Bends: Provide gradual direction changes in long pipelines and slurry lines.
  • Reducing Elbow: Combines a change in direction with a reduction in pipe size.
  • Forged Elbow (Socket Weld and Threaded): Suits small-bore piping systems, including high-pressure applications.

We supply these elbow fittings in different materials, sizes and specifications to meet project requirements, with applicable standards and material documentation available as required.

Why Choose Elbows Fittings?

Elbows fittings give you a clean, leak-tight turn without field bending. A factory-made elbow arrives with its angle, radius and wall already fixed, so your crew knows where each weld will land before the first cut. That saves hours on a busy shutdown.

Standard sizing helps just as much. An elbow made to ASME B16.9 lines up with pipe and flanges from any maker who follows the same code, so you never depend on one source. You also pick the material to suit the fluid, from carbon steel for steam and oil to 316L for acids and food-grade lines.

A long radius elbow also saves energy. Its smooth curve cuts turbulence and pressure loss, which matters on long pump lines. When a bend wears out, you cut it away and weld in a new one without rebuilding the run.

Elbows Fittings Price

We quote elbows fittings order by order, because steel and nickel prices move often. Material grade moves the price most: stainless, duplex and nickel alloy elbows cost more than carbon steel ones because nickel and molybdenum change in value. Size and wall thickness come next, since a bigger or thicker elbow uses more steel.

Elbow type, quantity and testing also matter. A forged elbow and a butt weld elbow follow different routes, a large order lowers the cost per piece, and extras such as radiography, impact tests or 3.2 inspection add cost. Send us your list with size, schedule, grade, angle and quantity, and we will reply with a clear quote.

Material How We Quote Main Cost Driver
Carbon steel (WPB, WPL6)Per piece or per kgSteel price and wall thickness
Stainless steel (304, 316L, 321)Per piece or per kgNickel and molybdenum
Duplex and super duplexPer piece or per kgNickel, chrome and nitrogen
Alloy steel (WP11, WP22, WP91)Per piece or per kgChrome and moly content

Elbows Fittings Grades We Supply

As an Elbows Fittings Manufacturer in India, we make elbows in carbon, low temperature, alloy, stainless, duplex and nickel grades. Carbon steel ASTM A234 WPB is our most ordered grade, because it handles oil, steam, water and gas at a fair price. For sub-zero service such as LNG and cold storage, we make ASTM A420 WPL6, which keeps its toughness at low temperature.

Boiler and power plant lines call for alloy steel elbows in ASTM A234 WP11, WP22 and WP91, since these chrome-moly grades hold their strength in high heat. Chemical, food and pharma plants choose stainless steel ASTM A403 WP304, 304L, 316, 316L, 321 and 347 for their corrosion resistance.

Duplex ASTM A815 UNS S31803 and S32205 give about twice the strength of 304, and they handle chloride-rich water well. Super duplex UNS S32750 suits seawater and desalination lines. For severe acid and heat, we also supply nickel alloy elbows in Inconel, Monel and Hastelloy against specific orders.

Elbows Fittings Standards and Certifications

As an experienced Elbows Fittings Supplier in India, we make and certify our elbows to the codes that buyers ask for. We cut butt weld elbows to ASME B16.9, short radius and return bends to ASME B16.28, and light-wall stainless elbows to MSS SP-43. Forged socket weld and threaded elbows follow ASME B16.11, and we prepare every weld end to the ASME B16.25 bevel. For materials, we follow ASTM A234 for carbon and alloy steel, A403 for stainless steel, A420 for low temperature steel and A815 for duplex.

Our quality, environment and safety systems hold ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018, and we comply with PED 2014/68/EU for European buyers. With each order, we issue a Mill Test Certificate to EN 10204 3.1, along with chemical and mechanical test reports, a dimensional inspection report and a PMI report. We arrange 3.2 or third-party inspection when your project needs it.

Elbows Fittings Manufacturing Process

As a reliable Elbows Fittings Manufacturer in India, we choose the forming route by size and grade. For most sizes, we cut a seamless pipe or tube blank, heat it, and push it over a shaped mandrel until it takes the elbow curve. For very large sizes, we press and weld plate halves, and we radiograph the seam.

After forming, we heat treat each lot. We normalise carbon steel to even out its grain, and we solution anneal stainless steel and duplex to restore corrosion resistance. We then cut the ends to length, machine the bevel to ASME B16.25 and check the wall at the outer curve, where forming thins the metal most.

Stainless elbows go through pickling and passivation, which strips scale and brings back the protective layer. Last, we stamp the size, grade, schedule and heat number on each piece, so you can trace every elbow back to its melt. We finish with an oil coat, varnish, sand blast or polish, depending on your order.

Elbows Fittings Quality Testing

Every Elbows Fittings Supplier in India says "tested", so here is what we do on each lot. We scan every elbow with an XRF gun for Positive Material Identification, which confirms the grade before anything ships. We also test samples from each heat for chemistry, tensile strength, yield and hardness, and we compare the results with the standard.

Next, our inspectors measure centre-to-end, angle, wall thickness and bevel against ASME B16.9. We run dye penetrant, magnetic particle, radiography or ultrasonic checks on welded and large elbows, and we hydrotest when your order asks for it. For stainless steel, we run the ASTM A262 intergranular corrosion test on request, and for low temperature grades, we run impact tests at the temperature you set. We inspect surface, weld ends and markings on every piece before packing.

Elbows Fittings Applications

  • Oil and Gas: Our 90° long radius elbows fittings steer crude and gas through pipelines, wellhead lines and gathering systems.
  • Refineries and Petrochemical: Butt weld elbows with alloy steel grades carry hot process fluids around furnaces, reactors and headers.
  • Power Plants: Alloy steel WP22 and WP91 elbows handle boiler feed, steam and cooling water at high temperature.
  • Chemical Processing: Stainless steel 316L and duplex elbows resist acids and alkalis in reactor and transfer piping.
  • Pharmaceutical and Food: Polished stainless steel elbows fittings give smooth, easy-to-clean turns in hygienic lines.
  • Water Treatment and Desalination: Super duplex and 316L elbows stand up to brine and seawater in intake and distribution piping.
  • Shipbuilding and Offshore: Short radius elbows fit the tight spaces in engine rooms and fire fighting lines.
  • Construction and Infrastructure: Carbon steel elbows route fire protection, HVAC and utility lines, and many contractors source them from an Elbows Fittings Supplier in India like us.

Elbow Fittings Packaging and Shipping

We pack our elbow fittings carefully to protect them from damage, moisture and contamination during storage and transit. Each elbow is wrapped in plastic, with protective caps fitted over the weld ends. Depending on the order size, we use plywood boxes, wooden crates or secured pallets for safe handling and shipping. Stainless steel elbows are packed separately from carbon steel fittings to reduce the risk of contamination.

We arrange domestic and international shipments with the required export documents, including the commercial invoice, packing list, EN 10204 3.1 material test certificate, certificate of origin and bill of lading, as applicable. Inspection reports and additional documentation are also provided according to customer and project requirements.
