What Are Caps Fittings?
Caps fittings are pipe fittings that close the end of a pipe. They have a domed or rounded shape on one side and a bevelled, threaded or socket end on the other, and they seal the line so that fluid or gas cannot escape from the end. A cap is also called a pipe end cap or an end cap.
Butt weld caps follow ASME B16.9 and are welded onto the end of the pipe, which gives a permanent closure. Forged threaded caps follow ASME B16.11 and screw onto a threaded pipe end, which allows the cap to be removed later.
